Virtual Tour of Richmond Hill Museum

Learn the fascinating story of richmond Hill's Henry ford era where the billionaire Ford and his wife purchased 85,000 acres in Bryan County in the mid-1920's, in effect buying the town of Richmond Hill, which was then known as Ways Station. Ford spent his winters here, living on a plantation that accommodated a laboratory where chemists attempted to transform agricultural products into good that could be used by the auto industry.

Ford revitalized an area where moonshining was on of the major occupations. A museum staff member will tell you about Ford's accomplishments and their massive impact on the community while you look at photographs, displays, and artifacts from the period. Other sections of the museum depict the area's plantation era and re-create a one-room schoolhouse and country store of the early 1900's.

An admission fee is not charged, but donations are accepted. The museum is open from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. daily. Located just east of the heart of downtown Richmond Hill in a building that once housed the Ford kindergarten on the corner of GA 144 and Timber Trail Road.
