Virtual Tour of Fort Mcallister

Charter a boat and set sail from one of our two marinas at Fort McAllister Marina or Kilkenny Marina to catch the fish of your dreams, whether its bass, bream, or catfish from the Ogeechee River. Taste the excitement of salt water fishing by traveling off shore to land the big ones - grouper, snapper, king makerel, or cobia. Explore the unspoiled beaches of the barrier islands or cruise the Intracoastal Waterway.

If it's the ususual you seek, your captain can take you dolphin watching, shark fishing, or to see alligators in their natural habitat. But if you prefer to do it on your own, several public boat ramps offer direct access to the Ogeechee River or outlets through marshland to the Intracoastal.

For an unforgettable outdoor experience, camp among the giant live oaks and beautiful salt marsh at Fort McAllister Campground. Sixty-five, trailer, and RV sites are available, as well as primitive campsites and a Pioneer Campground. Activities for everyone abound, from hiking and fishing to the scenic picnic and playground area near the historic fort. And, of course, a visit to the Civil War museum and a tour of the well preserved earthwork fortification are must-do activities. All sites are equipped with water and electrical hookups, grills, and tables. Two comfort stations provide campers with toilets, heated showers, and washer/dryers. A dock and boat ramp provide access to local waterways.
